Remembering "The First Times..." 9th Term Meeting and 40th Club Meeting!

"We might not always remember the first time we did something.
...but it was probably, the most important step."

A question regarding "First-Times" will definitely be kept in memory lane. Whether to cherish or to perish, it defines us in our paths we take.

Taylor's University Toastmasters Club's 9th! (Can we believe it?!) Meeting of the 2012-2013 Term was held on Saturday, 24th November 2012 @ Classroom E3.13, Lakeside Campus of Taylor's.

Taking up the Toastmaster-of-the-Morning role with a smile TM, Lee Seng Kiat gelled together a conducive Toastmasters Meeting

CC,CL Zahir Ahmad, gave a first attempt at a humour session with some quirky jokes!

"What is your favourite part of the newspaper? For me, its the comic section"
"How many pages are the comic section usually? YES, the WHOLE NEWSPAPER!"

"Politicians are funny people. They can attend every festive open house in Peninsular Malaysia. But when summoned to the Main Courthouse, they GET LOST"

TM YEan Yi, doubled up as Table Topic Master as well as a Prepared Speech Evaluator for Wilson, TM

When was the first time you...
  1. Screamed at your parents? (Seng Kiat)
  2. Did the most embarrassing thing imaginable? (Leona Liman)

  4. Laughed so hard? (Ian)
The list above is some of the Table Topic Questions that our spontaneous speakers had to tackle.

ACB Hoo Sze Ling from D Utama TMC became our Table Topic Evaluator for the 2nd successive meeting running. The crowd was in awe as she delivered her objective, critical yet substantial opinions to the Speakers.

As for our Prepared Speeches!

Felicia Regina Tjhang TM's "Dealing with the Devil"

"Do you know how this unpolished Diamond becomes the Real Diamond?"
"They go through a lot of cuts and a lot of pain."
"Feel free to cut me because sooner of later I Will be a shinning Diamond!"

Wilson Wong TM's rendition of "Stay Strong, Live Long, Start Now!”

"How to be healthy? TAKE THE STAIRS"
"The YO-YO Diet. The faster your body loses weight, the faster it WILL GAIN IT BACK"

"Change cannot be prevented. We have to change with it."
"Last week, was my first time I witness Death in front of my eyes."

Evaluators were on their game as always.
Shalini, TM from Monash TMC gave Felicia,TM a piece of her... opinions!
Yean Yi, TM suggest some pointers to Wilson on how he is ALREADY a potential speaker and how she had to look to advance techniques for his improvements.
ACS, ALB Sok Teng (Area Governor B5) gave her support in thoroughly evaluating our Project 8 Speaker Shaun Liew,TM. Expect nothing less from her years of high quality evaluations.

Timer was Aida Ang, TM from Crystal (Ladies) TMC. She encountered hardware problems with the equipments.

Grammarian of the day, LEON Saw, TM encouraged the novel use of the word-of-the-day as well as maintaining high standard of vocabulary & grammar of all members & guest. A First Time attempt too!

Our very own Ah-Counter, AKA Ben, TM listened attentively to word crutches and pointed out situations where he couldn't consider them (humour session sound effects).

Extremely grateful to have the bunch from Monash, this year's Division G Champion Evaluator Chen Choon from Ernst and Young, Fan Chen Keat from Speecom, Hoo Sze Ling, Alexandra Lau, Moses Wong aka Mr ED to make today's meeting an AUSPICIOUS one! (Shalini I want my oreos by the end of this post okay? okay!)

Stanley Teng came up with the most hilarious topics and because they're unlike any that I have heard before I shall list them out:

-You are to make people join your club called Taylor's University Terrorist Society. (Yan Yi)

-You are the president of a certain political party. Tell people why marijuana should be legalized. (Subbra is 100% stoned)

-You are the leader of the condom usage society, persuade people to join your club. (Fan Chen Keat)

-You are the president of the Ex-Girlfriend's Club, let people know how to get over their former partners. (Aaron Ng)

Not your average Table Topics session, thank you Stanley and Sze Ling for that wonderful TT Evaluation!
