Octoberfest! 7th Meeting of the Term (2013/2014)

October is an exuberant month for TUTMC. Why? Because Taylor's University Toastmasters Club celebrates its 3 year anniversary on the 4th of October 2013. Hence the theme Oktoberfest in this October meeting. It certainly shows that TUTMC has come a long way since then. To spice it up,our president who seems to be on the roll of having our meeting outdoors decided yet again to have our meeting outdoors(not that I am complaining).

I started of the meeting as toastmasters of the morning and then Dylan as president asked everyone what the month October meant to them. After that, it was the

TUTMC 5th Meeting of the Term 2013/2014. [RECAP]

Meeting Theme: Dreams & Desires

I have a hankering to tell a tale.

On the 14th day of September, year 2013, Taylor's University Toastmasters met again.
Acting President, Woon Yean Yi, CC  welcomed club members, guest and friends to LT11.
Speaking on the subject of a minor, an underdog. This man and person was part of the  resistant rather than the authority. When the odds are stacked up against you and hope seems bleak.

That is how Dreams and Desires came true.

"If you can dream it. You can do it" - Walt Disney

"Long story short, he was MY DAD!"

After the Presidential opening address, the Toastmaster of the Morning assumed the driving seat and had her share of tales. From Monash TMC, Hello Shalini, CL!

"From Ideogram to Manuals, Champagne and Mineral Water;
As an International Organization we have come far.
And, like they said, the rest, is history"

The TMOTM also sweeped through the room to get everyone to talk about a little dream which still lingers.

Crowd view from the Back.

Next, as per strict tradition was Table Topics. TT Master was Azwan, CC and he used the LT sound system with considerable purpose blasting out snippets of Song Topics!

"Just come up and speak about my random topics. No rules."

Takers/Topics:

1. Thian Seng - "Just Eat it" <Beat it Spoof>

2. Chen Keat "What is Love? Baby don't hurt me no more..."

3.Stephan Koo - "The boys are back in Town x3~"

4. Pravinan - "You are JUST A FRIEND"

Stephan Koo is back in Town!

" We would crawl into the drains and sewage as if it was an adventure. "

Now is time for the PREPARED SPEECH SESSION.

Up first was the guest from Monash TMC with their ever burning pride!
With his #CCM4 speech "Good Leader".

We present Mashuri or commonly known as
Mash!

"Be the kind of Leader, people follow voluntarily" - Mash

And the first of two Ice Breaker Speeches.

"Coming from an all boy family with my Mother an exception, I was so excited,
because I've never seen a girl before." - Pravinan Lai

The meeting took recces for *5 minutes*. Then came our Final Speech for the Day.

"Maybe I won't ever find my way; maybe I would just call this big maze my home."
- Ashikin

"How did we do?" is the constant question speakers posed themselves with.
So answers they will get, by the esteemed line of observant juries. Speech Evaluators!

HELP TMC evaluator Champion, Jocelyn Teh, TM as Speech/ TT Evaluator

Leon, TM analyzing aspects of "I am, because of them" by Pravinan

Reports from the GE Team

Language Evaluator: Immediate Past President , Zahir Ahmad

Time-Keeper: Annie,TM who had her hands full to present a concise Timing Report.

Ah Counter : Ah-Woon  Yean Yi, noting the crutches while doubling up as a speech Evaluator.

Prize Giving Time!

Ice is Broken for they have spoken! Congratulations to Ashikin & Pravinan.
You have joined the members in the Club Member Progress Chart!
http://taylorsuniversitytmc.toastmastersclubs.org/Members_Progress_Chart.html

And the votes are in to narrow out the highlight acts!

We might reference our mildly poor yet reliable lighting but the count is pretty accurate!

And the Winners...were...

Best Evaluator to Club VPE, Woon Yean Yi, CC

Best Speaker: Ashikin Aidura, TM (note the grimace)

And that, ladies & gents, is how the Cookie Crumbles.
So ends another chapter of this never ending tale.

Hankering for the perfect group photo.
