Area Level Champion

It was really an extraordinary experience for Taylor's University Toastmasters Club to have our very own club president representing our club for the Area B1 and B2 International Speech and Table Topics Contest on 3rd of March previously.

All of us were really nervous and excited for this day to arrive as we really wanted to watch the battle of the area's best champion speaker from each of their respective clubs.

So on that day, a few of our club members together with our president, attended the competition held at CIMA at 1.30pm.

What makes us proud at the end of the day would be our club president TM Isabell Zubinsha who took both champion titles for Area B1& B2 International Speech and Table Topics Contest!!!

Imagine how much joy we had knowing that our club's president has topped the area and will be competing at the division B level!!!!

This is the group photo taken during the prize giving ceremony together with other winners and the chairperson.

It was really a brand new experience for our club to have this award since it got chartered a year ago.
Big congratulation to TM Isabell and we are hoping for the best for you at Division B's contest.

Taking You to the Next Step Workshop

October 22nd, Saturday, it was a special day for Taylor's University Toastmasters Club as we've invited TWO awesome speakers from Quaritas Sdn Bhd to come and give a workshop to our club members and for Taylorians who are interested.
This is their web link http://quaritase.com/

The response of this event went pretty well, our club did not do much of promotions but the registration kept on coming in. And yes, we've received MORE than what we've estimated!!!
That's really good news!!
We were really glad to have all these interested people at our workshop.
And of course, as predicted, the workshop went of pretty well and most of them gave good feedback for it.

Our speakers for the day, Tariqua Amina and Jordan Grose.
Don't you like their smiles?
:)

 ICE BREAKING SESSION!!
Yes this is where everyone gets to know each other and all of them were randomly picked.
So most of them are really unprepared.
But that doesn't make much of a difference as everyone managed to overcome them and came out with a good introduction of themselves.

This is one of them who claims that she have phobia for public speaking.
Look where she is now. Standing in front of the crowd and presenting herself in front of everyone.
:D
When there's a will, there's a way.

 I'm walking, I'm walking, I'm walking....
Our activity based interactions.
So much different from what we learn in classrooms.

We were also divided into groups for discussions.

 Groups presentations.

And yes, giving out of certificates.
That's where everyone is most excited about.

Well the whole workshop ended slightly later than the estimated time.
THIS SHOWS HOW MUCH THEY LOVE THE WORKSHOP DON'T YOU THINK SO?
:)

Well, if you missed this workshop, make sure you keep yourself constantly updated by dropping us an email to inquire about our activities.
Or you can click onto our upcoming event tab to find out what activities we have.

Come to us and have fun!!

Taylor's TMC Induction and Installation Night

It was a rainy night on the 8th of June 2011.
It looks gloomy yet it wasn't, for us Taylor's University Toastmasters Club's members.

We all looked forward for this day to come as we are welcoming the new and also thanking the old.
For the "New"s we have of course, the new members and also the incoming new executive committee members.
As for the "Old"s, that will be our outgoing officers.

We chose the best restaurant, Backofen, with a cosy environment, although it was slightly noisy that night with someone else celebrating a birthday party, to celebrate this moment.

We start off the evening with the induction of the new members, done by the outgoing VP of membership, TM Maggie.
This is TM Maggie with her induction of new members speech.

New members on board from left, TM Zahir, TM Lih Hoe and TM Bryan (HELP).

The night moved on with TM Maggie's final speech in her Competent Communicator Manual, Speech #10, titled Speak with good purpose.

Our special guest for the night, our AG Jess Foong, who is the speech evaluator and also the person to install the incoming exco officers.

Being only 6 officers who attended the night, we all took our vows.
From top left :
TM Isabell- incoming president
TM Kelly- incoming VP Membership
TM Maggie- incoming VP Public Relations

From bottom left:
TM ReNee- incoming treasurer
TM Yean Yi- incoming secretary
TM- Vincent- incoming SAA

Our VP Education Cindy was absent due to personal reasons.
But that won't be a problem to us as we know that her passion is with us.

Next off, we have our Immediate Past President, CL Stephanie pass on the Presidential officer badge to our incoming President.

Followed by a speech given by our incoming president.

Not to forget, our teary-eyed outgoing president's speech.
She's always in such a mood.

But seriously, we know you've done SO SO SO SO SO MUCH for us.
Thanks for the guidance throughout your term.
And we were PROUD TO TELL THE WHOLE WORLD that
TAYLOR'S UNIVERSITY TOASTMASTERS CLUB
has achieved the DISTINGUISHED CLUB STATUS for the term 2010/11.
We can't get that without you.
Thanks a lot Stephanie, and also congratulations upon receiving the Assistant ADVG Edu-Training of Division B for term 2011/12

We were all very very very proud of you.
:)

*

Well okay, we're done with formalities for the night.

WHAT'S NEXT??

It's time for some Truth or Dare sessions!!!!!
And we were all really brave people that entertained the whole restaurant that night!
Hope we brought them laughter.

The truth session wasn't that much of an excitement for the night.
But as for the DARES..........

Let's check out the pictures below:

First off we have our new member TM Lih Hoe do some sexy pole dancing, and then TM ReNee with her Nobody dance moves by Wonder Girls and also we have TM Lih Hoe again to get himself seated in the baby chair for 10 seconds.

Not to forget, one of the highlight for the night will be TM Kelly singing a love song to the boss of Backofen's restaurant.
Take note with the boss' expression.

It was really a night full of giggles.
All of us had lots of fun.

Kudos to the outgoing officers and WELCOME ON BOARD, the incoming officers.

We shall continue our Toastmasters journey to a better, brighter and brilliant future.

Of course, with the leadership of our incoming president, TM Isabell.

Recruitment Drive on 25 January 2011

Recruitment drive!! Beautiful, tall, young, fashionable, good smelling, gorgeous from the head to the toe, all handsome and pretty guys and girls mingle on the floor, all in search of a cool club to join!

Taylor's University Toastmasters club was there to be part of the hustle and bustle too, flanked by 2 gorgeous ladies Stephanie and Jillian at the booth set up by Taylor's. Without a doubt, it has been a successful event with curious students wanting to know more about the club. There were many clubs in action to capture the attention of passerby.

When a passer by comes to our booth, one of our friendly members will give a brief explanation of the benefits of Toastmasters club, after that get them to write their email for us. We will then update them on the coming meeting so that they can attend to decide if Toastmaster is for them.

The event was filled with colors and sounds as the wide variety of active student clubs display their costumes, art work, music and dance performances. The cool boys of Taylor's Beatbox club and break dancers did their performance that wowed the girls of Taylor's, as well as send the cool college boys shouting for encore! Taylor's Creative club was seen drawing beautiful chalk drawings on the cemented floor of the new Lakeside Campus. So as Taylor's Anime club is seen dressed in Japanese themed costumes to add to the variety of beautiful Taylorians.

Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI)

On July 10, 2010, the Toastmasters Club Charter Exco Team attended the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI), which was held at our very own Taylor's University College Lecture Theater 20. The Toastmasters Leadership Institutes (TLI) was a training program for the charter exco officers and was beneficial to the charter exco officers. During this session the chartered exco officers were able to gain a lot of valuable information on how to run a successful Toastmasters Club and was also able to gain more information about the roles of the various exco officers. Overall, it was a fun and beneficial event for the exco officers and was able to gain more knowledge.

Recruitment Drive for Taylor's University College Taoastmasters Club

The recruitment drive that took place on the 25th of May 2010 at Taylor's University College Lakeside Campus was a success. We were content with the number of people who came to the booth to find out more about the club and there were some who keen to attend the Toastmaster's Club meeting on the 31st of May 2010. Below are some of the pictures of the the day itself.

From the recruitment drive alone, we were able to get 36 people who were interest to learn more about the club itself to sign up the club. They're asked to attend the meeting that took place on the 31st of May. Hopefully we will be able to recruit more people at the next recruitment drive in August.
